Who owns Greater Manchester Pension Fund?
Public service pension fund · assets held for scheme purposes [2]
Tameside administers the fund for scheme members and participating employers. Its Management Panel makes decisions, supported by an Advisory Panel and Local Pension Board scrutiny. This governance role is not a private shareholding in the pension assets. Most investments use external managers; property, private equity and infrastructure can involve funds or joint ventures. The approximately £35.2bn March 2026 figure is from GMPF's own published fund description. The draft 2025 accounts separately report £32.295bn at 31 March 2025. Neither is the value of a specific company stake. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

What does it report in UK tax?
The draft 2025 accounts describe exemptions for investment interest and capital gains. They report £4.058m of irrecoverable overseas dividend withholding tax in 2024/25; that is not UK corporation tax paid. A comparable UK cash figure has not been verified.

A dated UK cash corporation-tax payment has not been established for this reporting scope. Pension-scheme exemptions, overseas withholding tax, asset values and investor contributions are separate evidence; an unverified amount does not mean no tax was paid. [1]
These figures have different scopes. They should not be added together or used as a like-for-like tax ranking.
